longnetting when ferreting

hi im just wondering if i was ferreting a ditch with two 35 yard long nets and the ditch wud be about 80 yards long .could i use 1 longnet on 1 side and the other one on the other side.Could i ferret the ditch bit by bit because i dont have enough netting to cover the whole ditch.would it work if i done it that way :)

it would work on the area you could cover,any connecting tunnels into the area outside your net would allow rabbits a way out,you could enter the ferrets this end and flush them into your netted area,if you see what i mean.

Bolted bunnies are more likely to run down the ditch if there are plenty of holes rather than shoot out sideways into nets nets set alongside the ditch.You might have more luck by setting the nets across the ditch.If there is a hedge you may have to drag the net through a gap and you might have to weight the net down into the bottom of the ditch. Then set your purse nets between the two nets . After doing one section leap frog the purse nets and one long-net down a few yards leaving one behind as a backstop to try to prevent any bunnies going back to the holes you've already done . Of course that won't stop stop some rabbits fleeing back beneath the net in the tunnels but it gives you a chance of some fun . Give it a go and good luck . :thumbs:

Id go with that the rabbits will run up and down the ditch rather than run out into the open . but try it and if you end up with all the rabbits at one end set your nets accordingly and crack on
