hows he a nob head? the dog kept breaking its toes every time it went out hunting [even bunnies while ferreting] so was he supposed to just kennel it up for the rest ov its life or pass it on to some

what else was he to do with the dog , maybe advertise it on the internet as a top class worker and sell it for ££££ .... i think the correct course of action was taken in putting the dog to sleep

saying it how it is, and most dog men would say the same, and have scant reguard for lurchers in pounds... you said pet home.. thought you was refaring to the pound.   And dont jump on the band wag

my mate had a bitch off mr hancock a blue meril first x collie greyhound out of a collie dog called billy clinton and she was as fast as f**k for a first x he won simulated lurcher coursing at a show with her and people were putting dogs that that looked more like streight greyhounds in and she still bet them all mate

Link to post

me and my mate bought a couple ov dogs off hancock and both were rubbish my mate bought a 3/4 collie greyhound and i got a beardie cross out of some dog called [enoch] mine turned out 26 inches with a head like mike tyson but no heart at all he looked the part but i trained him for foxes [pre ban] he would do them twos up but cocked on them on his own so he went the journey to some lad as a ferreting dog and was shit at that as well!my mates dog grew to 25 inches and had terrible feet by the time it was 18 months and sadly got put to sleep through toes breaking all the time. i have to agree with a few replies tho and say i would advise people to stay clear ov mr hancock and his puppy farm .I ended up breeding my own ist crosses and every one of them were decent dogs

Had it put to sleep for breaking its toes, what a nob head.

Lets hope you don't break your toes, end of.

end of what? How many lurchers have to owned. And how many have you owned that you have spent lots of money on to no avail...

Been around lurchers for 26 years, and my dad as been breeding /working lurchers 52 years and we both are learning something new every year about dogs.

Regarding having to spend lots of money on our past and present loyal companions, the most was £600 on a bitch that broke her tibia/fibia running her heart out in pursuit of a hare on the opencast land where we were working our dogs.

And she lived to a ripe old age of 16 years in the house with us all ,,a lurcher can still have a quality life with a fracture as bad as this,so afew broke toes is nothing compared to this

just giving my opinion pal.

well i'm glad to hear that your bitch lived to be 16 years old well done that man ...... i also had a similar problem with a dog only this one recieved a fox bite ( pre ban ) just above the knuckle of his front paw , the dog in question was acctually to ground pulling the fox we could only see the dogs tail , anyway to cut a long story short i had the damaged paw operated on and told the vet that no expense was to be spared on repairing this wonderfull working dog . back home we have a mag box so this was also used to aid the recovery ... now then £750 later.... and months of being ver carefull around the dog and he was back on his feet ahh this is a nice story ..... wrong very f**king wrong the dog had a permanent limp i could not road walk him because of this so could not keep him fit so his working ability suffered as did his patience added with frustration on the dogs part ... not a fair deal on the dog i would say and i would never embark on such f**king nonsense again ... by the way i put the dog down due to old age last summer he was aged 12 i think ..... the way i see it is like this ..... you run your dogs you take your chances ... it's a dangeous game and if you have no heart to put a dog to sleep for what ever reason then best advice i can give is re-examine your priorities ..... good hunting

love? what i meant by trying not to be offensive was diddnt want to just say you are a know it all. what was my bad advice?

that didnt make him come accross as a know it all... He said, "there are 1000's of lurchers in kennels" how the jism does that make him a know it all. We all know that.

was a general statement about the comments hes made on a few topics. thanks so much for getting involved tho.

like i said, i post on stuff i know. If that offends you, then i apoligize again... Maybe forums should have people talking about stuff they know nothing about.

Anyway, happy hunting. May i ask, how old you are?

31. you? dont need to apologise, was just saying i disagree. all the best

you know you shouldnt ask a male his age, lol. Iam 40..

you are confusing me rfyl?at first i thought you was trying to sell dogs, then i thought you was just bragging nd being a bighead, now you seem to use your manners better or have stopped trying to get up folks nose, has for hancock dogs seen 4 people working them, one was real good but that was down to lad who worked the dog.one was worth owning so thats two,the others where very strange dogs,,i just never liked the price myself 1989 £200,i could buy a lucher pup for a third of that nd it would work just as good,,but i was told mine wasnt a pedigree lurcher :laugh::laugh:
