can a bushing dog be used as a digging dog

Recommended Posts

No.

why not

A digging dog can be used as a bushing dog if wearing a collar.

It takes more than the ability to chase bunnys to qualify a terrier as a 'digging dog'.

And if your 'bushing dog' does go to ground whilst chasing rabbits, is it always practical to go bushing with digging equipment?.

i would also say yes bud,

mine will bush well and performs below well too (parson russel 2 1/2 years old).

the advice with the collar on unknown ground is a good tip though! ( and keep the spade in the car mate).

Aside from the going to ground issue, ive always found them to be no good for bushing, cos theyre just too headstrong, let em off and you dont see them again or you see a little speck in the distance going at 100mph usualy away from you. lol

I couldn't think of a better way of keeping a working terrier fit for digging than a bit of bushing.

The secret is to know your ground. All my terriers see rabbits on a daily basis and none of them will mark to ground.

thats a brave statment neil but one i agree fully with some people wont agree but as long as terrier is fit

who cares i have never once dug to a rabbit with a digging dog but it can happen with any terrier

i think the worse thing for a terrier is being left in its kennel
