Si's new permission in Wiltshire

Hi lads,

Well I arrived safe and sound in the UK last night at 2300 hrs  .

Went straight away to get permission to shoot on the camp with the RSM and QM and got it straight away without any problems :boogie: .

Just got told to inform the guardroom when I would be out at nights and all was fine  .

45 minutes later the Ultra was set up with scope camera and my IR filter and Deben lamp, I was unpacked and off I went to do some filming and give the new Ultra a real run out and a test.

The first rabbit came after about 5 minutes with the longest shot of the night at around 40 metres. The Magnum struck it in the brain and down it went where it stood with just a final leg kick :toast: .

The other 8 came in quick succession (around 2 hours time)with rages from 10 to 33 metres.

The camp is a virgin camp (hunting wise) and the rabbits are in plague numbers in some areas and have never seen an air rifle hunter, so it’s pretty easy going really. The hardest part for me was carrying the shot bunnies everywhere i went with me untill i got to the drop off point. The bunnies are very healthly and fat and weighed quite alot as my cramp filled hands found out.

I could have had another 15 easily or more if I wasn’t scope camming and just lamping with the Ultra fire red lamp. I was also being very choosy though about not hitting the really close ones as its no challenge for me and not nice to see on camera, plus it takes away the skill in using a scope camera etc.

All the rabbits where shot on scope camera which will be going onto the new DVD, and the footage is very good and clear as i checked this morning on the laptop  .

I’m off out again tonight to shoot some more and am hoping for about another 10 to 15 to finish the NV section that I needed to film.

Here are some of the photos from last night’s couple of hours work. The Tench tuned Ultra was devastating and hitting with pin point accuracy. The 3 misses I had were from me wobbling with the scope camera not the rifle :wallbash: .

Enjoy

Si.

I think i have Sat and Sunday off, will find out later this week. You fancy coming and dropping a few of these bunnies on the new permission with me buddy?

Its my turn now to pay you back for your kindness in the past buddy  .

Im in Wiltshire right next to Tilshead (West down camp) Ive only got permission at the moment for nights buddy when its quiet.

I need to film a full section on lamping with a red filter buddy, so thought that you could shoot proper Davyt63 stye and Ill film you buddy so i can finish the DVD early. We can ever swap around when the bunnies get to heavy and you get fed up of seeing and shooting bunnies :tongue2:

Great shooting si, chuffed to bits for you as I know you were desperate for some good rabbit shooting for the new dvd :)

So your getting on with the .177 for scope camera work now then I see, good stuff :)

I think if you had got rid of the ultra you would have been missing out on something special.

Happy hunting on the new permission, hope you and davy have big freezers lol.

How long are you in wiltshire for?
