Hi Reddog.

Oh right i see, I live in a built up area as well and that hasnt stopped me lol, ive got 3 mature cockerels. Id think you would be alright with one cockerel as they arnt that noisey to be fair. but depends what your neighbours are like, Yeah I do, havent got any available at the minute as my hens are not laying. Thanks fella. Outta all of my moderns I like my pyle the best.

Hi Reddog.

yeah, i actually got told there red pyles. i could do with another stag to make fertility even better. but cant seem to get hold of one. yes one of my wheaten mods went broody last year and hatched a chick, which turned out to be a cockerel. lol

you could use a pekin or silkie bantam hen to hatch them if she were broody, but i use an incubator much better.

I know many people in built up areas bring their cock birds indoors at night. Put them in a cat carrier with a blanket over and stick them in a cupboard. The birds get used to it very quickly. They let them back out through the day

They will still crow through the day, but their crow is not that loud. Plus if he is the only cockerel in the area he wont need to compete with others :D

Neighbours are usually ok with day time crowing, it is the 4am crowing which tend to get their backs up

If he is a downstairs cupboard you will hardly hear him.

If you are wanting to breed, do your best to get the best birds out there. Just like the dog world, the bird world gets flooded with inferior types from people wanting to make money
