Raymond 618
I was supposed to bring my 6 year old ferreting yesterday. He wasnt into going when he seen how heavy it was raining,so of bushing with the eldest son.The plan was to bring him today. For some strange reason he didnt want to go today,on to the next victim my 11 year old daughter. No she said.Next was my 14 year old daughter, you guessed it no Da. The eldest fella was of to a christnan. The misses wasnt in the mood neither. So there I was thinking of I go again on my own, Billy no mates. The misses came into me to say the 14 year old daughter would go. 2 of her friends stayed the night and they asked her to go so they could. So in the end I had 5 parteners in crime. 2 first timers. I brought the lurcher pup for the experience. I netted up the first burrow. In with the ferret. She was down a bit so out with the locater.I got her at 3 foot.I dug down about a foot, checked the locater and it said 6 foot. I hadnt a clue what happened. When I took the locater out of the hole she was too far to pick up. I started to widen the hole as I thought I would be there for a while. 7foot for a rabbit phew. Take the good with the bad. She moved and seconds later a rabbit bolted,so the helpers where rejuvenated with addrenalin. The ferret went back to the 7 foot dig spot. I though not good for the kids first time. I was digging for a while and the ferret moved. I had the daughter waithing for her.She got the ferret. I was thinking the ferret must have came to the end of the tunnle in the burrow and dropped down into an underground pit. I will never know how she was reading 3 foot for a minute and then how did she end up 7 foot away. We moved on in anyway. The 2 first timers where the usual ooh get the rabbit away from me. After a while they where fighting over who was carrying it. The next burrow nothing. We found a 1 holer and straight away 1 bolter. So the kide liked that one. The next burrow I got a 2 and a half foot dig to a dead rabbit. We rapped it up at that. Some of them lokk like rappers. I was delighted with the pup as it was her first time in a field. There was no other dogs with us. The usuall end of day shots. The 2 newbies are mad to get out again. Result Quote Link to post

Raymond 618
You never know the camo suits might be the fashion for some of them next season. I will try and get them out a couple more times before the seasons over. The couple of newbies certainly had there eyes open to something different. Quote Link to post
