I've yet to see one for real. I know they are getting more numerous up the country, but not down in the "deep south" so to speak.

 

Frank had a great pic of one at his bird table, having some bread and jam a while back.

in laoise and he has seen several there so keep you eyes open

Good post, love the pictures, thanks for sharing. They're getting more common up here in the North, being seen in Co Down and Antrim. Road kills are more frequent now in Co Down and Fermanagh (according to a friend who's a taxidermist). I used to know a taxidermist in Mayo, who got them in fairly frequently.

I still haven't seen one myself tho'.

it's not a marten,marten has dark yellow fur under his throat.the ones that are smaller and with white throat

are called here in Italy "faina" but I dont know the english name.They are far more common and are not as elusive as Marten

 

Find out the latin names Marten:martes martes

Faina:martes foina
