just off the phone from the vet he is out of the op ok. he has some muscle tissue and skin missing they have pulled it all together and put a drain in. They are concerned he has damaged the nerve and might have difficulty using the leg properly but we wont know until he starts using it how badly he is affected.

 

its a releif he has made it so far and Josh has come around ok. The hardest part of being a parent is that you cannot put a plaster on the hurt unseen

Glad to hear the dog pulled through mate,they are a lot more resiliant than we give them credit for,and he may yet go on to run a few more for the lad..........Martin

i know all to well the damage that barbed wire can do had a very good sal/grey about 10 years ago hit a brand new roll in the middle of a feild at full tilt behind a hare had to rest her for 12 months afterwards she ruptured both sets of tendons in both front legs and after all the rehab work she could be run about every 4 days and then would limp for 24 hours after she was never the same dog and just became a pet with my mum and dad at the ripe old age of 3 so my fingers are crossed for u

hope the dog gets better and can run again every time you take out lurchers , you really never know if they will come back in one piece , when running 30-40mph more so in the dark:doh:

I know that this should really be put in another new post and i really am not trying to hijack the thread but barbed wire is just a leftover f**k up from the second world war or neccesary to keep livestock in this day and age ?
