boyo 1,398
slipped my 9 month old saluki greyhound in with older dog last night and had cracking run but didnt catch gave her a run on bunny first she ever ran hour later and ran it real tight no overshooting and straight back to hand .she spent the rest of the night...frustrated on the lead watching the other dogs run.when their pups give them all the advantages you can to have a catch .make them think their all catchable they have plenty of time when their older and wiser to find out that its not that easy .always found this is the best way to get a good dog . GET THEM OUT (.)(.) 39
was running a pup i bred at 8 months quite often on the lamp, nothing testing tho, a pup out the same litter we didnt even try on the lamp until he was 16 month as he wasnt just ready, every dog is different, Quote Link to post

whin 463
localy on the big winter wheat feilds pups would get a towing best hares for pups is stubble hares september ,were i run big land well educated game at times no place for pups unles slipped in as the chase goes on ,most dogs ive had caut hares 12 to 14 months , some bitches if there bred to be 10 11 months when corns cut good to get easy chases then tally ho, to early can lead to bone problems later, early retirment, i take mines lamping with old dog at 6 or 7 months then just work them up to it works for me by the time they are 12 months they are getting the feel for it and no the score Quote Link to post
