Alex Arrigone 24
HEY ALL i was pondering last night about how i could possibly predict the movement / direction of a rabbit and know where it is and at what time of the night. and i decided to put some of those military skills to use. i decided to get a sattelite image of our permission and do some simple paint work on it. this is a rolling product which ... in a few weeks/ months time will greatly increase our hunting outcome. i put the boundry on it purely for visual aid. the dots signify where we have seen a rabbit and the line is the direction the rabbit ran off. the line ends where we lost sight of the bunny. every hunt , i will add a different colored dot to represent the rabbit, to signify a different hunt. as of yet we have only been out twice and between 6-7pm so no need to put a time legend on it yet. however as you can see a clear pattern has already emerged. soon we will be able to outflank and place ourselves in positions where we can cut the rabbit escape route off. will update you on proress made over the next few months cheers Edited January 15, 2011 by Alex Arrigone Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Hi Alex, Looking at your target pack slide I would suggest that the rabbits are running in to warrens on the boundaries mate and going to ground there. I can’t see the rabbits running over the boundary and then again across the open ground at he back of the boundary as they like to go into cover at the first opportunity. Those boundary hedges could make for some good static hunting locations mate. I think another day time recce would be the best idea to identify the biggest warrens that are in use. If you send me your original target pack slide before you reduced it I will enhance it for you buddy. Si Quote Link to post

davyt63 1,845
hi Alex i like the graph nice work buddy, and what this clearly shows to me! is that a bunny will at least travel 1/200yds from its warren.if i was you buddy get your self out there before sunrise! at least 2 hours before, look for there runs!!.and get in a prone position,in range of where you have spotted them!if you have a couple of mates then make a star formation.this way you are covering the hole of there route then as it gets lighter! and they are not so confident then move to the hedge line, and take em out, when they come up for a quick nibble or a toilet regards Davy Quote Link to post
