scothunter 12,609
i would have thought instead of a lot of prodding and guessing ,a blood test would be the first thing to do and actually confirm if it is a snake.also im no snake expert but dont they hibernate, especially with the recent bad weather we be having. 5 Quote Link to post

skycat 6,173
There's no way a snake would be awake at this time of year! Fecking vets! Quote Link to post
ReggieCuz 18
Even if yer dog's foot smashed through into a snake's hibernating lair the snake would be way too sluggish to be able to react by biting the dog. The dog would have had to stand on the snake for a good few minutes before the snake could react. They're cold blooded and need warmth to bring them out of their stupor. I reckon your vet was struggling to diagnose. Maybe the leg got infected through a tiny cut that you didn't notice. Quote Link to post
Shazza 52
Would have thought a snakebite would also start swelling straight away not a couple of days later, guys are right though, snakes are well away in thier winter stupour now Quote Link to post

scothunter 12,609
thats the trouble with vets these days.if they cant diagnose a prob, they just take a guess.Well sorry but any fool can take a guess and save ourselfs a trip to the vets and a few quid.wonder how many animals have died through bad judgement from a vet.you should say something to him when you go back mate.hope you get to the bottom of the dogs "REAL" problem. Shazza 52
wonder how many animals have died through bad judgement from a vet. Mine for a start Lost my Staffy 18 months ago due to Vet not believing me even though i knew the cause of his illness, he'd eaten a foreign object. I begged the Vet to open him up and remove it as the dog couldn't eat/drink. Vet insisted on a course of AB's! Took him to another vet who refused to operate without X-rays, couldn't see anything as the object was a plastic carrier bag he stole out the trash so refused to open him up. My dog died 5 days later. You can't even do anything about them because they all back each other up Quote Link to post
