With the recent hard weather I have 12 feeders hanging in my garden filled with peanuts, niger and sunflower hearts to feed the finches close to my area.Today I had about 20 goldfinches, 30 redpolls,as many chaffinches and a few greenfinches on the feeders. I also supply a dish of water for them as well. I was delighted to see some Bramble-finches running with the chaffies which is a rarity in Ireland.

It would be good to hear what birds you have visiting your garden??

I live in the centre of a town and last year I saw starlings, sparrows, blue tits, great tits, robins, wagtails, collar doves, fieldfares, wrens and a sparrow hawk. This year the 20 foot high shrubs behind my house were removed to make a carpark and despite putting out a variety of foods, I have only seen two feral pigeons at the same time every afternoon. Its very disappointing. I will have to plant some quick-growing shubs to encourage them to come back. The pigeons must be near too fat to fly!

Ive only got a small front garden, but a decent sized back yard, me and the wife keep a log of birds that have visited the yard, and we are up to 19, and I live in the middle of a town so this is good for me. Recent visitors lately, wren, grey and pied wagtails, plus all the usual..last year a black backed gull dropped in for a chicken carcase I put out for the birds..
