pianoman 3,587
Welcome here carlton. For hunting? You need to up your budget carlton. 150 quid won't get you very far for a hunting rifle that's up to the job I'm afraid . To be honest you are looking at worn, well-used 2nd Hand condition spring rifle for this money. You won't get a 2nd hand Pre-Charged Pneumatic rifle worth a spit for £150. Also, by the sound of things, you may need to get a fair amount of self training and practice with a decent spring rifle before you are ready to hunt with an air rifle anywhere near successfully. With rabbits you are going to be shooting the head and brain area, which is a moving target no bigger than a 2-pence piece. What's your experiences been so far mate? Edit to add. What I would do is, if I was serious, look at the prices of proper hunting spring rifles as new. That means you should be looking at Weihrauch and Air Arms guns costing around £380 to £500. See what you really would like then, go hunt around for reasonable second hand examples. You'll be looking around £250 or so but, at least you will find something that is up to the task of humanely despatching rabbits at reasonable ranges. The next thing to look towards getting up to the task is yourself Simon Edited January 14, 2011 by pianoman Quote Link to post

zini 1,939
Hi Carlton, Welcome to the section mate. All the above info is very good mate. What I would say is this. The best way to quickly learn to hunt and shoot is to go out with an experienced shooter and suck as much knowledge from him as is possible. Choose someone that you know is sensible and will teach you patiently and correctly while staying within the confines of the law. (Example) The bloke who lives in the corner house on your street with a CO2 pistol that blasts pigeons off your roof from time to time is not the sort of bloke I am talking about mate. Please believe me that there is a lot to learn in this sport and if you wish to start shooting at live quarry you will need to study the sport to give your quarry the fair chance that it deserves. It can sometimes seem like a steep learning curve that just keeps widening and seems never ending. Just keep at it mate and keep absorbing information and experience you are given, and your first bunny will soon be in the pot. Maybe someone on here will take you out and give you some experience buddy if you ask nicely. ATB Si Quote Link to post
