The British record is 46lb from Llandgfed (think thats spelt right) reservoir. Its doubtful that it will ever be beaten as 40+ fish are becoming rarer and rarer.

beat that two weeks ago , but not telling where, two thirtys on same day not bad eh.

I was on llandgfed the day the record went the 1st time.. And also know of 2 bigger fish taken since then. As the waters are secret locations, the record cannot be claimed. As for the record not being broken. It means it will probarbly not be broken by the recapture of a trout fed resivour. A fish of such weight has a very short life span, say compared to a natural loch fish, which may live for up to 10 to 20 years longer.. Once a big trout res pike is caught, the chances of its survival for a long time after arent to high. I had a fish of 55lb whilst field testing rods in Sweden. The head was of a massive proportion and in proportion with the body, compared to a lot of big trout res pike which i have seen here. Reason they gauge on stocked fish, and the head never catches up with there body, also they grow fast as they are taking in plenty of protein(trout). this in turn puts massive preasure on their hearts. causing many fatalities after captures, so much so, that a lot of old school pikers, myself included, now turn down the chance to fish on trout waters.....Atb Russ.

as a foot note. I know of a fish captured from a river in Scotland that would not only beat the river record but the bristish record as well...

im sure there has been bigger than the record caught but most good pike anglers will keep quite and not want the publicity of another good pike water getting ruined

like i said, there has. Its not that the water would get ruined, as they are usually non fishing lakes, stocked syndicates, or ultimate secretive syndicate waters. And beleive me, these waters are manned 24/7.. I have seen some massive cats also which evade the bristtish records, and these where 15 yrs ago.

Also been on two netting programs where pike have been scooped to over the record. And one of these waters was a day ticket!
