wheres the option for i wouldnt use it at all ?

 

my regularlie worked lurcher wont chase them really. I think a lurcher knows whats a rabbit or hare and whats a plastic bag. take them out on the lamp.

 

agreed the option is dont post,also when i raced greyhounds they chased a plastic bag on a the hare rail there sight hounds they will chase anything thats moving.regardless of whether its a tesco bag or a a teddy bear.

same with my bitch she'll run anything!

I see the lure now as a very good tool in the lurcher mans kit bag!

I've seen her pick up on her turning/strike and she's using her gears well now yes she's only 13month but i think this is the best thing i've ever made for her!

but lure is a good thing to keep dogs fit in summer when ur not hunting,,,,if a dog hunts,,,and chases as they say ragg,,probably means it has good prey drive,,and will chase the lure knowing there,s no chance off catching it ,,,offcourse after chasing ragg,,the dog will relise that after a few turn,s,,,its also good way off gettin dogs to run togther , if they only hunt alone

 

 

most greyhound men excise there dogs ,,,ready for flapping,,,300, 500 , 900 yrd races ect ect,,,,,most run say wed and saturday,,,,but once dog is fitt,,,there no need for excirce all 5 days as dogs gettin blast behind lure 2 days aweek,,,every week,,,so they might get 2 days walking instead

 

there,s nothing better than keeping dog fitt,,,,than running and a lure helps,,,if ur not into summer hunting,,,my advice mate is dont over do it,,,,but at same time enjoy it,,,,as u and ur dogs will love it come summer months,,,,and ur mates willcome round and have a blast,,,its a good way in keeping in touch in summer

A lurcher should be a working animal with a brain, why would it chase a carrie bag or a old skin if it has access to regular rabbits and hares. I see it at country fairs all the time over eager racing dogs going wild, while dogs that will run there quarrie till they drop hardlie batter an eye lid. Dont get upset when people have diffrent veiws than you, do you just want folks patting you on the back !

 

all Im saying is at this time of year i see no reason to play with a bit of string and a Pelt?! I run mine fit and there proper fit.

lurchers have the working dog,,,meaning more brains ,,but lurchers carry alot off sighthound too that mix,,,so will chase almost anything also

and if the guy wants to use a lure for keeping his dog fitt,,,dont for one minute tell him a lurcher wont,,,,as ive seen pure collies / terries /lurcher,s/ even beagles do it well,after parctise

If you have a slight hill to run them up with your lure you can cut the number of runs per dog by a third as compared to the flat run ! if that may make sense ?

I own a lure machine and use it occasionally as a bit of fun and a bit of exercise for the dogs, if I had the time I'd like to get out a couple of times a week with friends and maybe run 10 runs a time but I don't really see it as great exercise or prey drive encouragement for the dogs, I do it because they enjoy it and so do I.

 

Oddly enough the running dogs aren't normally as keen as most other breeds and I've seen some great coursing dogs refuse to chase the lure. The running dogs will normally do it with enthusiasm but aren't quite as crazy as the terriers who want nothing more than to smash the crap out of a plastic bag.

well theirs none from me! as my dog's are workers and are only for working , I don't show them and i would never enter them in a lure race

or a trial for the springers! alot of people take this lure racing/shows to far!

The hole point i asked what i did is because i may or may not be making some cheep lures for sale

If and when mine pass's the testing i'm doing! i've being running 12x 150m now i know i need to do 20 run's
