nick783 4
Hiya all, I'm new to the ferreting scene. Been out 5-7 time with mate of mine nd decide it was for me. All kitted up found some land near home and got permission and off I went. Land is big enough for me, all open and easy warrens. First time I went ferrets down the holes after netting up quietly and waiting for 15 min, one rabbit bolt within two minutes. Great I'm thinking good start to the day. Then one of the ferrets was on a rabbit and was in same place go 15 mins, time for a dig. 10 ft the ferret finder was reading, so I waited another 10 mins and still in same place so I thought I'd start digging maybe she would move off the rabbit. No chance, the ground was rock solid 1 hour later at 6 foot deep she came out!! The question is any one else around Hertfordshire find the ground very hard to dig and that ther warrens are very deep? Any help greatly appreciated! Thanks nick Quote Link to post

The one 8,477
Had a few deep marks ,if you give it a bit of time and they dont bolt all you can do is get the spade out ,Then its all down to the rabbits nerve most times you get the top sod off and they bolt the noise straight on top of them unnerves them ,Some times you have to go the whole hog though .The worst i had was two at seven foot one weekend the jill was stuck between two rabbits she had killed and would never have got out .
