wolf hybrid

Recommended Posts

I have a friend with a Saloos (I think thats how its spelt) which is a wolf hybrid over many generations and his has very little prey drive. i suppose its how the dog is brought up but he hasnt actively discouraged its instincts he just says its crap

Wolf`s hunt using numbers, even then they spend a long time searching, for sick or weak individuals in a heard, then they keep pushing the heard until there intended victim, gets separated or gives up.Not much good as a hunting dog.

Humans spent hundreds of years breeding the bad bits out of the wolf so it was somewhere near useful as a hunting companion.

Why would you ever consider putting Wolf back in the breeding???

See, I can not belive that, the wolf must of been a handy hunting partner from the get go, or else it would of been just another nice warm coat.

has anyone on here used or seen a wolfdog for hunting i reckon it would be bang on deer fox and rabbits :whistling:

Id say it would be some beast allright ,probably impossible to traiin though,I think i remember reading somewhere that the greyhound shares a surprisingly large amount of genes with the european wolf.

not sure what you mean ,,,

dog hound

wolf wild cross..

well a bush wolf is a wild dog ,,

it breeds with our domesict dogs even today .

they must weed themsells out some how..

the crosses when your female pet gets it from a bushwolf. then you end up with more bush wolves ..

and if one is tamable ,,because they go wild as they grow and it may run away ..

the ones that stay tame,, stare allot . not much good even as a pet ..but kind hrearted soles care for them..

not sure but we baged yotes that looked like giant foxes ,, but that yotes tail is not the same ..it made a good joke at the tavern, anouncing .. we just got the largest fox ever ..about 34 lb ,we all laught ,,all patrons agreed that that thing looks like a giant fox which reminds me of another story were we filled a dead fox with air till it looked like 30 pounds .and the guys fell for it .. they still talk about the lbig fox .. we do not have the heart to tell them they were,,, tricked again...

If youre thinking of a wild canine to put into a hypothetical lurcher much better with a Dingo I reckon. The Aussie's have used it to good effect in quite a few herding types which in turn have been bred to produce lurchers. One thing about wolves they'd throw good feet and stamina I reckon. I remember watching a programme about a small wolf pack in the high artic about 3 or 4 individuals and the lead male was 14 and still catching artic hares not many dogs have genes that make them that tough Selective breeding had weeded out anything inferior so that the wolf could survive in this harsh place.
