Ideation 8,216
Wind in the face always helps. Sometimes you dont have that luxury, but if trying to walk up game that you have spotted daytime its always worth thinking about where the wind is blowing and where the quarry is likely to bolt to when it does clock you. Although having said that very little daytime sport is slipping, so usually it dont matter where you are, as the dogs are working off away. Edited January 11, 2011 by Ideation Quote Link to post

mossyh07 64
I heard from a friend of mine that if your out for a run on a windy day not to bother walking the whole field, just was the parts that are sheltered by trees, ditches or banks. I've tried it and it might just be coincedence but it has proved fruitful. Quote Link to post
Mick C. 229
I have most success when the wind /breeze is blowing into me. If im walking up a hedge i stay on the windward side. The dogs have a much better chance of sniffing out hidden game Unfortunatley sometimes this is not possible due to obstructions and barriers. Quote Link to post
