killa-combo 142
the dog had tore its skin on the underside of her leg 4 week ago now the tear was around 3-4 inch and a good 2 inch wide, so to big of a job for me so i took her to the vets within 15 mins of her doing it got it stitched and some antibiotics through her 3 days later her stitches tore out and nothing could be done as the edges of the wound had started to heal, so braught the dog in the house as it was to cold for the wound to heal and easyer for me to keep on top of keeping it clean, anyhow to cut a longstory short the wound is still about 2 inch and around 1 inch wide slowley healing, and now its going no where it hasnt changed in the last past week, does anyone know of a wound powder or spray or ointment that will help with the healing, is it worth putting the spray on to stop the dog liking the wound any help is appreciated. Guest jt750
Personally i wouldn't put anything on it if its dry ..let it granulate naturally ..there is no quick fixes for burst stitches
skycat 6,173
Do not use powder of any sort: a wound that large needs to stay moist so that new skin cells can grow across the surface: it needs to heal from the edges inwards and shouldn't scab up too soon, which is what powder would do. Use honey, intrasite gel or even Savlon to keep it protected from the air and keep it moist.
