Marksman 934
Well one of the golf clubs got back to me and they are not having a prob with bug's and co at the moment but anticipate probs come spring and have kept my name and number on file for thier referance which is good and hopefully a new future permission pretty standard reply mate, the best thing you can do is go in person with all your documents, dress smart then they can see who theyre looking at and it's easier to converse with someone you can see and while youre there you might be able to point out any outlying areas you think may have a greater problem than they think. SPA for the effort though Darryl Quote Link to post
StevoSmith 147
It could be a standard reply mate but you never know..........i do normally go in person with my filofax lol but i carnt cover them all.........i also state i dont want to tread on other peoples toes so if they have someone i dont want to muscle in.....so maybe they just might get intouch.......rabbit pops are slowly picking up i have noticed in last week or two...im starting to see alot more but this prob down to bad weather.....snow has only been off the floor for last 2 weeks and we did have a bit last week Quote Link to post
silentshot1 206
I'm with Marksman on this one. Wish you all the best with the email campaign, but from experience, the delete button is often used before reading, whilst meeting someone in person is more difficult to delete. Gaining permission is like every other sales role. In part it's a numbers game, in part it's identifying and acting on a specific need, but mostly it's about building a speedy rapport through presentation, word and inferred knowledge and offering simple get out clauses to demonstrate trust and competence. StevoSmith 147
Agreed mate.......i will head over to the places i sent emails this week and do it in person......Thanks for advice guys and really i should have known better but i suppose we all do it the wrong way and learn from our mistakes Edited January 12, 2011 by StevoSmith Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
SPA for the efforts you are making here Stevo mate, really hope it pays off for you fella. Once you get yourself set up with something from your approaches, it becomes a lot easier to get word of mouth working for you and more shooting permission comes your way. I get my phone ringing from farmers in my area because they know I'm always up for being out and shooting the areas where they see the pests are operating and I get the results they want, without hassles. Keep up the campagn mate and you'll end up with all you can handle, you watch! ATB Simon Quote Link to post

markha 99
Well theres no end of farms over by you, I even have a couple of permissions out your way! There are also some very nice game shoots on some big estates. Best advice is to get some cards printed at Vistaprint, then spend a day or so just driving round all the farms and doing some door knocking to introduce yourself. You will, in the end, get somewhere and once your on one farm and clearing the bunnies and rats etc for him it wont be too long before other doors open. You get out what you put in mate - Also make sure you get a permission form filled out by the land owner, and that you keep a copy with you at all times when shooting on his land.Never ever settle with a verbal agreement, always get it in writting. All the best. Quote Link to post

Yes mate I reckon this is the best option I'm gonna sort out a new rifle and get myself insured then all essex farmers expect a card through your door and a visit from me wack the kettle on Quote Link to post
secretagentmole 1,701
Just phoned a farmer, but found the family had an addiction to rabbit pie, but they gave me the phone number of another land owner with a bunny problem and she said the wife and I could shoot there, no probs, no payment and we were the last people she was giving permission to as she had enough shooters who asked her now so until some drop out, sorry folks, have to respect her wishes! But yay, bunny shooting less than a mile from the front door! I love it when a plan comes together. The wife has decided not to take her Diana .177 bunny bashing but will get a cheaper springer instead, so a second Hatsan is being sorted with a Hawke 3-9x40 scope for under £130, she does not mind dropping a cheaper rifle in the mud!
