Manco 16
I know a few hunters whose proud claim is that they eat what they shoot. Well, I must agree that venison is pretty tasty, and even the humble rabbit has a few pages in the Delia Smith cookery book, omnibus edition. A fellow shooter at a full-bore club I attended had shot whatever there is to shoot in several continents and claimed he always ate his bag. That held true until he shot a grizzly bear; now he's known ironically as "The man who eats bear." But what about crow - would you eat one? I have to admit, I never have. But maybe it's all in the mindset; we could be pleasantly surprised. Check out this recent post from the GTA forum, stateside...http://www.gatewaytoairguns.org/GTA/index.php/topic,1299.0/topicseen.html Bon appetite, Chris Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
In Victorian and Edwardian times Rook pie was a popular dish among the working class poor. My late Grandfather had a taste for it but, to me, the very thought of a large black corvid being baked in a pie..UGHHH! No thank you! Simon. Quote Link to post

Treganin 2
Me & the missus had crow.Tasted of strong liver.Although i wont be eating it again. but i really would try anything. Anyone ate rats,or mice or anything unusual we hunt..? Always wanted to try fox for sum reason but always put off by mates.. Knew a guy once who used to hunt with a Golden Eagle and occassionally used to feed fox meat and pelt to the Eagle to keep it occupied, it's Beak/Talons in shape and to keep it focussed on foxes as prey. Apparently everytime it ate fox it stank, Badly! You might want to think about that before you try it yourself. Personally, I wouldn't. Quote Link to post
gurtwurz 792
If your mate's bothered about his new nick-name, maybe he should go to the U.S. and shoot a beaver....?? i'm sure we've all eaten beaver at some point andy mate not sure about crow, but my elderly uncle reckons rook is pretty good. he was also saying that back in the '40s badger hams were supposed to be pretty good-maybe when a cull is approved again then maybe someone'll be able to tell us? cheers, wurz Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
There was a tv programme on not so long ago about a guy down in Devon or Dorset used to drive ip and down roads looking for roadkill and eating it. He had a chest freezer in his garage full with a label on saying what it was on the bag and the date and road he found it on. Lol Darryl Quote Link to post
