Malt 379
There's been loads of threads in this section about this subject over the 3 1/2 years I've been a member pal, and no one has ever managed to find any mention of legislation that makes it illegal to release a pest apart from non native species. Ideation 8,216
Wildlife and countryside act 1981 (and as ammended in '85 , and 2000 crow act) it is an offence to release or allow to escape into the wild any species on schedule 9 [ exotics which are natralised such as grey squirel] or schedule 2 part 2 [vermin register which includes fox and a whole load of other stuff] . I'm looking at the act now matey, all I can find are exotics, (resident and introduced) and a load of fecking plants! Not saying it's not there, but I can't find any mention of pest or vermin.. salukiwhippet 6
Assuming we're talking brown rats, they're not native anyway! Not sure if they'd be regarded as naturalised but they've certainly not been here as long as say the rabbit. James Quote Link to post
Tiercel 6,986
The brown rat Ratus norvigicus is an introduced species. The black rat ratus ratus is the only indigenous rat in the uk. TC Edited January 9, 2011 by tiercel Quote Link to post
