Coincidence??

Recommended Posts

My wife is looking after a neighbours two hens and went up this morning and a young albino jill has killed one of the hens and is at this minute underneath the chicken shed. i went up to try and catch it and it didnt want to be caught it was like greased lightning. so ive blocked it in for the minute. i would like to catch it alive and try and tame it down anyone had any success doing this?

i can get a big wire catch alive trap tomorrow from work and put that at one of the holes it will probably get it ok. i cant let it go locally as there are too many people in our little hamlet with chickens.

What do you think?

If its a wild 1 then i think you no chance of taming it and every chance of sore fingers........put your hand under the shed and see what happens... :whistling:

I might be cabbage loking but im not green

i honestly never realised ferrets could move so quick, if it cant be tamed i will have to shoot it which is a real shame it is a bonny little thing as fit as fire

Be worth a try with the live trap though.....maybe someone local to you has lost it. Believe me when you catch it you will soon see if its wild or has been lost....

Lure it out with a dead rabbit/chicken whatever you have, they cant resist movement so give the bait a good shake about. It will be someone who has been ferreting and lost it, probably didnt use a locator!!!!! It should be ok if you handle it well, they can get pretty shy and skitty when been left out for a while. A few years ago I went to my mates early for ferreting, he was still in bed so I went to get the ferrets ready while he got up. As I got to the hutch it was open and the fella came out of the house next door f-ing and the likes, the ferrets had got out and killed his chickens and he had chopped them in half with a spade. Wrong thing to do to smilers ferrets, there were tears let me tell you but not from smiler.

The moral of the story make sure the ferrets are locked up well.
