gnasher16 30,216
Gnasher if you agree with johnny on this how come you mentioned Beckham inspirin spurs, he has no ties with spurs, but i do think he will inspire them... AND HE PLAYED FOR MAN.U. Because he,s still a footballer thats why....if Roy Keane was still playing im sure he could inspire and motivate ANY player on the pitch....but stood on the sideline its not so easy if you have no connection to the club or players your trying to motivate. gnasher16 30,216
How can you believe that Dalglish has a better managerial pedigree than Roy Hodgson. Google Hodgson's managerial career and then google Dalglish's. You could easily argue that Hodgson had the most successful and varied of the two. I am not a Liverpool fan, but I do think Hodgson was treated shoddily by the fickle fans. He was never given the time to build his own team and now Dalglish will be pulled out of his ten year sabatical to build a championship challenging team out of nothing. First he has to avoid the drop! Where did i say Dalgliesh has a better managerial pedigree than Roy Hodgson ?....I didnt say that at all. What i did say is Dalgliesh will ( well should ) be able to get far more from those players and supporters than Hodgson could...tactically i would imagine Hodgson could leave him standing having been out the game so long......i believe some managers suit clubs and some dont,Liverpool is a passionate area for football and Hodgson dont come across as a particularly passionate man,so without pretty much instant success people will turn against him which leads to pressure.....the same things happening at my club West Ham,Avram Grant lacks passion so naturally when things dont go well that really gets under the skin of fans, this then leads to more pressure and some folk dont cope well under that pressure.Good pedigree or not Hodgson looked like the job was too much for him from day 1. johnny boy68 11,726
Dalglish hasn't done anything for 10 years, here was his sparkling career after Liverpool, who he previously walked out on I might add: He joined Blackburn Rovers in 1991 and, through Jack Walker's patronage, he turned the Second Division side to Premier League winners, breaking transfer fee records along the way. His move to Newcastle United in 1997 was less successful. Although he finished as Premier League runner-up in 1996–97, the team's league performance the following season was lacklustre and he was sacked by Freddie Shepherd at the start of the 1998–99 season. He was appointed Director of Football at Celtic in 1999 but a brief stint as caretaker manager ended in an acrimonious departure. He has not managed since 2000 and has instead focused on charitable concerns, founding The Marina Dalglish Appeal with his wife to raise money for breast cancer. Granted he hasn't done anything for 10 years but your suggestion that hodgson as achieved more is laughable.......Dalglish achieved more in his managerial career at Liverpool than Hodgson could only dream of.And Dalglish left Liverpool after the Hillsborough disaster and never walked out on Liverpool his desicion to leave was an emotional one and not done on a whim. That's what he claimed anyway, but he still moved back into management with Blackburn only eight months later. I think it depends on who you support as to whether Dalglish was more successful than Roy Hodgson. I did use the words, 'aguably more successful'. Success means different things to different people. Ask fans of Halmstads BK, Malmo, the Swiss National team or Fulham what they thought of him as a coach, motivator and manager. They would probably tell you that what he did was miraculous, given his relatively small budget and very limited talent pool. I'll tell you what Johnny, I'm pretty confident that Dalglish won't be in the same league of Messiahs as Kevin Keegan, and I'm a man of my word. If Dalglish manages to take Liverpool by the scruff, which is what they need, and take them to 6th or above position at season close, I'll send you a bottle of Black Bush. If they do not finish in the top half of the table I'll be sending you some humble pie, which I expect you to eat in public. It's almost a win win for you Anyone who owns and keeps a diary may log that and call my marker. We won't be magically improved by Dalglish in charge but one thing I'm quite sure of is Dalglish will give us a little more motivation, whether thats going to be enough.........I hope so. How much worse a job can he do........Hodgson offered nothing
staffs riffraff 1,068
People on about motivation yeah players need motivation but that ain't all they need I think it's bad the way Roy been treated and be surprised if results get much better any time. Guest bullterrier
rumour as it that dalglish is staying on as manager for now and Liverpool are looking at getting back to the old backroom staff ways of doing things with Jamie carragher becoming player manager under dalglish before becoming full time manager

Doesnt matter mate the 90 minutes on a saturday is only a fraction of the time players spend kicking a ball.....his presence will raise other players games even on the training pitch, which you would imagine will lead to the same on a saturday. Give me a 50% Beckham over a 100% Lennon any day....that said Beckhams only their a few months so it wont be major changes as he,s not the future of the club.Beckhams ability and professionalism is enough to impress anyone.
