Hi folks

A camera clocked me last night Iwas prob doing 35 in a 30. Would they follow that up? If they do because its my first offence am I likely to be offered a speed awareness course?

Cheers

He was charged with attempting to pervert the course of justice......how the f**k can a man be charged with this before a crime has even been commited   If i see a man wearing a balaclava about to

say the car didnt have right size wheels on it that changes the speed my mate done that got off with it as cars should have standard size wheels on for that make and if they been change that effects

Then you'd get done for not having valid insurance (unless you'd told insurance co about it). You'd still be expected to have your speedo calibrated, so that ones not going to stand up for long

I might be wrong but i think they normally allow you 10% before following up,which by my shoddy maths is 33 mph......so your borderline, might be lucky....was it a gatso job and did it flash once or twice.

Not sure about whether you have been got or not, as mentioned they have to give you 10% as all speedometers report different speeds, what I mean by this is if you speedo said 35 you may have only been doing 32 or something around there. as they all round the speeds up all cars are different.

Not sure about the speed awareness course, I did one about 4-5 years ago and at the time it was very much dependent on where in the country you had been caught, some counties had taken up the scheme and others hadnt although this may all have changed by now. The speed awareness course when i did it was applicable for speeding fines in 30 zones only so you may be covered

good luck

they do save lives....

Fair comment but they also cause more accidents than probably any other single object on our roads !

Anyone read about that old boy the other day who was taken to court for " Attempting to pervert the course of Justice "....because he flashed an oncoming motorist warning him about a speed camera ahead :icon_eek: .....Just about sums up the real reason they are there, they are a money collecting box not a road safety box !

I know in my county they offer the speeding course. But will this be for any threshold within a 30 as long as you havent hit 40. I might have to get my dad to take the points and pay his ins premiums. Ive only been driving 9mnths so I'll get whacked for it. Ive learnt my lesson

Can you provide some evidence to support this please . . . . .

Gaza, if its a gatso (permanent standing type job) dont worry about it as they are not robbing people with those any more.

If its a mobile, ask to see the calibration history for the "gun" used and make sure its up to date, they rely on people just paying up and not querying.

Read somewhere that the cameras wont flash until you hit 42 mph in a 30 zone .... Google is your friend ... I will do a mooch and see if i can find the info ( new scamera rules see )

Cheers for the replies. I'll just have to wait and see, a poor start to the new yr. Lamp bulb broke last night so I went the pub instead offered to drive my mates and Im most likley going to be hit the 3 points. Not fussed about the fine. Its not even a proper residential area theres no pedestrian pavements either side neither

Fair enough if they where placed at every accident black spot but there not there placed where they can generate the most cash .Lets be in no doubt the mortorist is just seen as a cash cow for local goverment funds . Most folk know where they are and slow down to pass them then speed up again .Was it last year they where talking about still a £60 fine but two pionts on your licence so they could get more cash off the motorist before they banned persitant offenders ?.

carefull driving save's live's

camera's make money

granted they paint them yellow

then hide them behind tree's

bus stop's road signs etc

what about the poor bloke that flashed his lights to warn others

of a speed camera, he was fined over £400

when you look at it he was preventing crime
