Tiercel 6,986
so you've both tried them then Actually I have used them but for the purpose they were made for, and even then they are crap, first sign of frost and they become brittle and break. They are also not UV stable in that like most plastics uv rays break them down. Just get you arse into gear and go and cut some hazel, been used for 100's of years, cheap and works. Country Joe 1,411
Cut your hazel now, you have got till the end of February, not so much sap in them, cut them 25 inches, some say the thickness of your index finger, some the pinky, I cut a mixture, remove the burrs, point them, and round the top. I tie them in small bundles with plastic ties, then put to dry, They cost nowt, easy to prepare, and gets you out in the fresh air, and you are learning an old Country skill. Quote Link to post
ashleybee 7
I've got my quickset made with hazel, never failed yet plus I like the more traditional look very easy to get replacements especially when your out, can normally find a hazel tree in a hedge or woods near by.
