What about folks like me who have hunted lurcher and lugger dogs for many years but have had a change in circumstance so they aren't able to do so anymore? People who just like to chat with other doggers and have plans to get back into it again as soon as circumstances allow?

I think ferreting people out who haven't got a current working lurcher is bad for the sport. By having open arms and welcoming all on board we doggers are being openabout a sport we have nothing to be ashamed of. Also, we are encouraging new blood.

Just my opinion.

but youv still got an intrest in hunting with lurchers. its the people who only crop up when say a rescue post or show post comes up.

Then look down there nose at people like myself who keep dogs outside in kennels and use them purley as hunting companions.

Yeah, I see yer point, dogooders who think dogs should have a seat at the family table, sleep on yer pillow while you cramp up at the foot of the bed and otherwise rule the roost can be a pain. But these people are just dog ignorant types. It hasn't clicked that a dog is a carnovorous hunting machine (no matter what breed it is). These are the people who think that by calling a dog ''Shnookums'' will make it a 9 month old human baby. These are the same people who end up returning their dogs to the rescue home when it bites them or their kids and then they blame the previous owner.

I see yer poit though, but I still reckon we should be open about everything. Education is knowledge.

I,ve only read the 1st page but you dinni half talk some pxsh

It's the HUNTING life, not the LURCHER hunting life. I look on the terrier section and the shooting section as well as other sections; so why shouldn't they look on the Lurcher section ?   Cheers.

Baldyback Courser; you obviously started this thread to get a reaction...and you DID ! But to have a go at women Lurcher owners is just wrong ! I don't know many, in fact theres only one or two who I class as REAL dog women, and Moll is one of them; at least she has dogs and works them regularly, unlike most who jump in on these threads !

Cheers.

Ummmmmm, okaaaaayyyyy.. Sorry, Roxy, what language is that you're dribblong? Let me guess, it's pidgin english/scottish???

Here's a thought, genius, instead of making a bold claim about someone talking ''pish'', why don't you point out exactly where the person talked the ''pish''?? Don't you know that a claim made without evidence can be dismissed without evidence?

Let me dumb that down for you, helmet head. If you say summat make sure you back summat up wit summat.

Twat. What part of my posts were pish?

Sorry I offended you :notworthy: I seem to have got the impression you are implying if a dog becomes accustomed to sleeping at the foot of the bed it is somehow impaired when said dog is hunting quarry in the field, :hmm Ma dug regularly sits on ma fanny and she,s still shit hot at marking

No, I was commenting on the people who try to treat their dogs like human children. I've not allowed my dogs to sleep on my bed cos my dogs are either too big or there's too many or them.....but that's the least of any dog any dog owner's worries.

I firmly believe a dog should know its place. Yes, it can sleep in yer room on the floor, it can sleep on their bed in the lounge,,,,,, but under no circumstances does it EVER get on the furniture, bed, sofa, kitchen table etc etc etc. A dog is a subordinate in my world, it stays on the floor where it belongs.

My kids allow my dogs on their beds but my dogs don't listen to my my kids. They listen to me though, unflinchingly.

Sorry, pal, you had a go at me without reading my post properly, that's why I attacked back.

Just read 2nd page mate and you seem to have a complex, its Glesga not Glasgee, also on the 1st page you seem to imply if you are into ferreting you know fxckall,I personally love ferreting and just because I don,t post pics of other exploits on an open forum doesn,t make me a non lurcherman, think about it,and even if all I did was ferreting does that disqualify me from participating on the lurcher section?

Try reading the thread when you're sober. As a Scot I realise this is pretty nigh impossible, but try it. My reference to ferreting had nothing to do with ferreting. Take a deep breath, count to 3 (probably what you're capable of) and re-read the post.

Why am I wasting good fingerprints on a keyboard on you?? Sober up, chief, you'll be well embarassed in the morning..

Or, in your language, 'ye dinnae soond loike a sane mun, ye bloowin yer bagpoipes oop the wrong kilt, jimmy.''
