Willing to learn things the right way before making a commitment. If more people were like you our for sale section wouldn't be rammed with shit.

All the best and hopefully someone offers you out as some of the advice you have had on here is shocking.

The only bit of advice I can give you at the moment without knowing more about your circumstances/hunting methods/quarry.

Is go for a pup.

As a first timer you will put in the time and effort required to create a good wee worker. Don't be fooled into taking in someone elses shit on a false promise.

Choose the cross that suits your preference and hunting requirements then source a well bred pup, hopefully through contacts made on this site.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Cheers.

As you said mate there's no rush.

Personally I think you would benefit from taking a back seat with someone else for the rest of this season. With someone as genuine who will teach you right from wrong.

Then when you get your head straight and know what you want from your future worker get a pup to bring on over the summer months.

Gives you ample time to bond and bring the pup on and can have a look at the back of next season.

Very sound advice mate, thanks.

I've had dogs for 30 years and some have been working dogs but nothing like what i want to do now so i need to learn what approach to take to ensure i give any pup the proper start needed. There's no rush on my part, only to see proper dogs in action and hopefully that wont be too far in the future

Sorry PPower i misread your question, :icon_redface: i am in Chelmsley Wood.

AS for those that only post to insult and inflame people, i have read plenty of threads and can see how they work. Pity because they ruin the site but if everyone just ignored all the stupid remarks the muppets would have nothing to respond to and may just decide it's not worth it and get a life of thier own.
