pest hunter 151 15
I was talking to some one who said rats are every were, (you are never more than 3 ft away from one). Although while out and about i have never seen a rat apart from in cages or farms. Is this saying bull s**t or are the rats invisable Thanks PH1 Edited January 7, 2011 by pest hunter 151 Quote Link to post

davyt63 1,845
hi buddy it will depend on the density of the permission! down at the dairy farm when we first went there i would say yes!! and also at the grain dry store, even closer  but as above, put out some bait out.or ask the farmer where the hot spots are, usually dung heaps if out side, and covered dry cattle food. I would not use a lamp too often as this will spook them eventually (by to often I mean every night every week) if you can get your self a Night Vision scope, then its game over for the little fooker's good luck buddy regards Davy Quote Link to post

gowersponger 0
i think that saying comes from london and big city areas i.e never more than 5ft away normaly means 5ft underground in sewer pipes etc Quote Link to post

pointer 543
there seems to be alot of rats about at the moment.ill have to start shooting more and my other half (hedgehunter27) was shooting them last night after the dogs had their fun on several and bagged a dozen in no time .I know half and half is getting more permissions all the time aswell. its impossible to say if 2011 will be a good year for me on the rats even though i know jan and feb will produce more rats than usual. The one 8,457
I thought the saying was your never more than ten foot from a rat ?. But i think there's that many in the sewers of the city's they more than make up for the rural areas Quote Link to post
ghillies 209
wheres theres a sewer pipe theres a rat... theres a couple types of drains in your gardens, ones sewer pipes for the loo and turger is drainage, the drainage ones are the ones usualy running accross the front and go into the grids in the straight, break one of them and see how long it is till rats apear. next is they really good swimmers, some take to swimming around the used pipes looking for a loo no less, late at night you may hear a bullullulloop noise in the bathromm, thats a rat popping up for a look. the problem here is first they go have a look round, in yu food in the kids bed..yu missis knickers etc....tuther is the second it gets home and pee's they others all know where you live, they have this really effective hive mesaging service, they cant hold their bladders and just pee where n when, in that pee is a chemical message that the others can pick up on, it's a little info package of where they been. if they really like you they'll stay, and breed, when the numbers start getting to the too many stage they start trying to force house hold members out to make room, by householders not just the other rats but they'll start to spook you too.. 70 percent of ghosting can be down to a rat... theres eventualy one that has an uncanny knack for freeking people out, i've had a couple three on shoots, literaly following you round and waiting untill they crash and screen right under where your sat. it seems to start with just a weird bump in the night, thats the intro 'hello' lol... after that they get progresivly worse each time you visit. i had one that would get right under/behind my feed sack seat, it'd wait till that lull of quiet just at the point you get cumfy then it's stamp hard on the ground abd screen then run through rousting me, i was really glad to shoot that little f..ker!
