Lee85 44
I'm in two minds weather to go or not? Will there be any quarry? Grey trey rats? maybe the birds and the best option? the odd rabbit? hide or mooch? I could end up just getting cold and wet for nowt, does anyone here go in the snow? It's fairly heavy at the minute here Quote Link to post
StevoSmith 147
No harm in trying.....i tend to notice that bugs dont come out as much in the snow(but it depends how deep it is)...birds out all the time cept when really heavy and squizzers out all the time so why not give it ago....wrap up warn though and happy hunting Quote Link to post
rossi_j 99
Me and my mate went out for a mooch out in the snow and blanked, however that was for bugz in the middle of the night, we learnt quite a bit about the movement of our quary from tracks in the snow but this is only realy shows us what they do in the snow. I dont kno about squizzers in the day, I think there is only one way to find out mate Let us kno how you get on. .atb. .ste. Quote Link to post

rossy08 33
get out there and give it a go.you cant but try as they say.. me and a mate went out camping in the last lot of snow about a foots worth. cant say we got a grate deal but the bunnies werent going to be dragging them self's through that much snow. if your after pigeons and the likes make shure all your skin is coverd as not only will you stand out agains the white background the uv light your skin gives off will be all to easy for them to spot. wish you all the best with it. ps keep an close eye out for tracks as said above, gives you a very good idea of there paths in and out of there warrens, i found a few new entrances to warrens i thought i new well. Ideation 8,216
No point if its hammering down but if there is no snow falling but snow on the ground its good. Quarry stands out like a sore thumb! You can track them anywhere and if its been about for a while they will congregate around feeding points - i.e Rabbits round the Haylige bails, Squirrals on the Bird Feeders (Hoppers) and Pigeons landing on any bit of crop/stubble poking over the snow. Found crow shooting particularly sucessful as they all seem to be congregating on top of the haylige/hay/silage out for the cattle. Beautiful landscape to be out in anyway, just remember if your wear your camo you will stand out! Quote Link to post
Marksman 934
if ya aint in it ya cant win it....get out there mate!!! Darryl Quote Link to post

Lee85 44
soft northerner, pssssshhhht! .22 Air Arms S400 Classic, Webley Accupels, Hawke Pro HD Milldot Scope Anyway, I slung my rifle on my back and took my motorbike to my permission as it's got nobblys and easier to use in the snow. When I got there before I had chance to unpack a squirrel ran away about 12ft from me, then a big crow flew off from the branches above, i unpacked got zero'd in and went for a walk around, was really hard to be quiet because of the snow crunching underfoot. I saw four rabbits in total, missed one! - and the other 3 left before I was in range, shame. I walked around for a while longer and was scaring wood piegeons out of tree's with my crunching feet but I couldn't see them anyway they were that well hidden. I finally got something - a Jay - after pursuing about 4 of them quarreling threw the tree's for a few hundred yards, I fired across a wall and knocked it from the top branch of a tree at about 30 yards, headshot, after that i called it quits and set off back to my bike, only had a few hour but was nice to get out. Some don't like shooting Jay's but there in abundance in my neck of the woods, we see them all the time. pics: Quote Link to post
