jmilam08 193
I'm after a bit of advice for roost shooting, i went out for a walk earlier to a spot iv been watching for a few days, pigeons are coming and going constantly,I finally manage a route in there tonight and looked up to see the outline of easily 20 woodies, and more in the treeline behind I think, any way I got exicited and complete missed the three shots I had. What I want to know is have I blown the spot due to the missed shots and spooking them or will they gradually make there way back, I'm getting the smack now because it's taken me a long time to come across this little spot. Cheers in advance jake. Quote Link to post

Cheers in advance jake. I dont think you would have blown your chance after 1 night in there but they will get educated if you are going in there night after night. The best times for roost shooting i have found are late afternoon/ early evening, with a overcast sky and a good breeze. Quote Link to post
jmilam08 193
Nice one for that mate, chers for the tips, would it be better if I was to wait hid up beforehand for a bit or sneak in when there roosted, I know I could get away with eava but from experiance has anyone found a method that seems better. Cheers jake I prefer to get in there an hour or so before they flight in and shoot them when they flying in and have commited to land. I dont find it much fun shooting them at roost unless its with an air rifle. Just remember to cammo up face veil and all. Quote Link to post
stevethefish 80
Good advice from doddsy mate, make sure you cover up and keep totally still, pigeons have awesome eyesight. Try making a makeshift hide from tree branches and anything you can find during the day ready for the afternoon, just make sure you know where they are roosting though, usually the tallest trees or some thicker patches.
