shoota 0
has any one used 22lr shorts, the man in my local gun shop was telling me they are good for shooting rabbits, and that a shot you would not take with a bullet you would take with these because they dont travel, does any one use them for shooting rabbits, what range have you got with them are they worth using or should i just stick with expanding ammunition? Excuse me? Exploding ammunition? Or do you mean "expanding" ammunition? The .22LR gives a good general pest control option. The .22 shorts are very low powered, not a huge amount more power than a legal limit air rifle, so yes they are a little safer in very tight locations, but then again you shouldn't be taking shots where there's a risk of overshoot no matter what gun you're using. I really don't see the benefit in using them in preference to a .22LR, and I believe that they are more expensive too! As for "they don't carry" what exactly does he mean? They will still carry lethal energies out to 60 or 70 yards, and the lower speed can lead to ricochets. So yeah, they can do the job, but there's no real benefit to them that I can see. ratattack 111
Not designed for long shots but if you are that close then an airgun would be sufficient. I take it you mean expanding ammo rather than exploding ammo Quote Link to post
shoota 0
thanks i know i thought that they were only pennies cheaper than what i normally use, i sold my air rifle to get a rimfire before the summer comes i am going to get an fac fx cyclone a friend of mine has one and its brilliant. i just thought rather than buy an expensive gun try these shorts buy not many people seem keen on using them thanks alot for the advice :-) Quote Link to post
Fidgety 8
Dreadfully inaccurate at 25 yrds Quote Link to post
RicW 67
Indoors rounds. Rats in a barn at 20 feet. You still need FAC and a rimfire rifle to fire them and they'll jam in most guns. Forget 'em. Quote Link to post
bewsher500 3
I have used CB Longs which are similar but in a standard LR case IIRC. very low power and unless shooting at a fixed range under 25 yds can be a lottery to account for trajectory. Quote Link to post
Colster 1
Same as Bewsher, I had a slot for FAC Air and LR and thought I'd try the CB Longs in my LR and possibly never have to buy the FAC Air. They didn't group at all well even at 25-30yards, so I bought an AirArms S400 Xtra instead Quote Link to post

Still, if it justified the S400 I guess that's ok! Quote Link to post
