my mate bought himself one of those cheap crow calls, i was laughing my ass off at him cos he sounded naff all like crow using it, telling him he's in the wrong place for the party cos it just sounded like one of them annoying party blower thingsthumbdown.gif It did take some practice (and a bit of "friendly criticism") to get it sounding like a crow and to get them responding, but the maggies just couldn't leave it alone, even when he sounded crap! we got ourselves inside a holly bush cos they're nice dense cover and had the maggies landing very close and sometimes IN the bush we were in. this is the only time i've managed to shoot magpies. i think its down to my mate maybe sounding like summat wounded and the maggies inquisitive/aggressive nature draws them in, i like to hope so, because there'd be nothing finer than taking them down when they're thinking they've got the upper hand, orrible censored.gif!! i hate 'em. They did seem to hang around in lower branches, maybe either to stay out of the wind or to scavenge/bully food from the woodies that were sitting low as well. im thinking if they hang around hawthorn as well, maybe they're smart enough to utilise sharp, pointy bushes as defensive cover? any tips/advice on bringing down magpies would be very welcome, cos i can't stand them!!
