NEWKID 27,527
Was out with bullseye71 again on sunday, decided to try a hedge which is around 250 yards long and split halfway by a gate. we set the longnets from the gate up and purse netted the few holes where the long net was short ( any holes missed would hopefully provide a bit of sport for my lurcher pup). started with a large hob of bullseyes and it was a littkle slower than we expected after around 15mins Bella my jrt took one that attempted to hole hop across the top of the hedge we got to the bottom of the hedge and took another 2 but it was a little slower than we expected. We picked up the nets and set up on the other side of the gate, we decided to use one of my young hobs for his first outing. Within about 5 mins he bolted 2 that both ran tight to the hedge and back in my lurcher just behind ( she's getting there it wont be long now). It went quiet for a bit with no sign of the ferret after locating him at around 3ft we dug to find him with his first rabbit We entered an experianced jill and had another 3 out before we reached the end of the hedge, tbh we had expected a few more out of there but you just never know. For the last hour we decided to have mooch around and maybe bolt a couple of rabbits for the lurcher to run. We walked a few hedges and the terriers flushed a rabbit from under some gorse along a hedge the lurcher was right on this one and didn't stop at the hedge crashing straight in unfortunately the rabbit found a hole and was away, she's still learning but I'm real pleased with her. We walked along an overgrown dry stone wall and the dogs marked well we entered a ferret hoping for a quick bolt but after about 5 mins we could hear the ferret had caught. After removing a few loose stones bullseye could get his hand on the rabbit and pulled it out with the ferret attached. We ended the day with 8 as I said I think we expected a few more but still a top day out Quote Link to post
