hi lads

 

I'm trying to work out how to use the mil dots on my scopes.there 3 mil dots on mine as you can see in the picture but whats the other lines at the bottom also i would like a mil dot label for my flip up cover can anyone make me one up please ive tryed but i can get the hold overs to tell me where to shoot.I'm zeroed at 30 yards with 177.

 

where my scopes only have 3 mil dots which should account for 30,40,50 yards how to i judge 35,45,55 yards with them?

try the chairgun pro, its free if it'll dowload,

 

basicaly it depends on the magnification and how big the dots and dot spacings are,

 

the lines underneeth are some sort of dragonof or nato ret patrm, similar to the christmas tree rets on hawk scopes, alas with out knowing the size (mil's or mil radian value) you'll be down to trial and error as to what distance you zero at, and what pellet and peller weight to chose from.

 

theres and 'arc' to your tragectory because the scopes angled downwards tords you barrel, so the that the pellet actualy shoot up wards reachs the highest point the drops again, as in near too its climbing, far away its dropping, it depends where you zero to where the dots will coincide.

 

take some paper and tape measure out shooting, set up at 5 yard interveils, 5,10,15,20 etc out to 55 yards, zero at say 30 (could be anything from 20-40 yards depending), dont zero at ten yards, definatly at the furthest cross hair point on the ret, because theres two, one on the climb (nearest cross hair on target) it raises above so you'll be aiming above the cross hair on the ret, then it drops to the other zero cross hair on.. use the furthest because the value of one click at 5 yards is a nats gooley, at 50 it could an inch or more... hense at the '30' mark or what ever.

 

keep the cros hair on the bull for every target and note where the pellet hole apears, right it down for each five yarder....theres your tragectory arc, looks better on a gragh, distance along the bottom..

 

if you zero further away it'll lift the arc, nearer to it'll drop the arc lower.

(higher power flattens the tragectry and sort of lifts the tail end higher).

Your pattern of lines under the Mildots are actually for rangefinding Deer.

 

Do a search for one of the Mildot Calibration threads that Si's done, They explain it all

Hi Steve,

 

Try this reticule I’ve just designed on the computer for you buddy.

 

You actually have more than enough aim points and I have stopped for you at 8 including the cross hair.

 

The range finding reticule under the cross hairs can also be calibrated.

 

I used one of these for almost a year so know how accurate they can be if done correctly.

 

Look at my clip here to see it in action when calibrated.

 

Fast forward to around the 2 minute part as its boring till then.

 

Just self calibrate your ret by shooting out the errors at targets set at 5 metre intervals as ChairGun will not work on this type of reticule properly.

 

You can then write on the reticule at the side of each marker your calibrated range.

 

You can then stick this to your rifle somewhere for quick reference.

I calibrated it mate.

 

Once done there is never any guess work involved.

 

Here is another reticule for you that Ive just played about with that you can resize to what ever size you want mate.
