SportingShooter 0
A .410 will kill a Fox at very close range but you have to remember that it has somewhere in the region of 30-50% less pellets. .410's and Foxes are best left to them being used for humane despatch of cage trapped Foxes. A 12 with the correct load (BB's commonly) will have an effective range out to around 40 yards as long as the shot is in the right place. At night, an unsilenced .410 is going to scare away everything that a 12 will. There are "silenced" 12 bores out there, normally by the same manufacturers as the .410s. If you're planning on shooting a lot of foxes, then i'd be considering an FAC Quote Link to post

whippeter69 88
410 is a perfect tool for lamping rabbits, but fox's its not such a good idea, you will have a good night out with one and they are very effective on a dark, windy night on rabbits but fox's you will not a 12 for a good foxing shotgun If you're going down the moderator road then the Baikal hushpower single barrel is a great tool or if you fancy a multi shot then a Mossberg Hushpower pump action is also a very good tool.
