andyfr1968 772
I'd be interested in that one too. I've just got new neighbours and they're being really arsey about me practicing in the garden Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Hi degster. Couldn't you set up a 25 metre range at home on your garden? Or is it only 30 metres square? Pontefract Air Rifle Club is about 25 miles from you and reasonably reachable if you have a car. I'm joining up there this year. Andy, the trouble with people nowadays is that they have been bred on Health and Safety and the immortal phrase "I don't think..." ("I don't think this is a good idea" I don't think this is wise.blah blah) and had their balls removed, so they need to make love to their partners wearing orange high vis jackets and hard hats and play computer games to get their thrills in complete safety. The sight of a fellow shooting with a rifle positively scares them rigid because that is out of their comfort zone. Because it's real! Have you tried talking to them, that you are a well ballanced, responsible and intelligent man, not a psycho who's practicing for the day when he climbs a high tower and starts culling a shopping centre?! ATB Simon All true Simon buddy, I 100% agree with your statements. Andy, If the new neighbors are already thinking and being that way I think that they are being a bit necky especially as they are the new kids on the block. I think that I would do as Simon suggests and have a word with them nicely and explain what you are doing and even invite them to come and have a plink with you so they see how much fun it can be and how much enjoyment you get from it. If that didn’t work and they refused to meet you half way I would carry on anyway and inform them of the law and what it states regarding back garden shooting, and that you are totally legal to do it as long as you stay within your property boundaries. Best being nice though buddy, as you know mate manners go along way. Si Edited January 5, 2011 by zini Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Thanks for the comments, fellas. I've tried talking to them nicely but their grasp of the English language and concept of manners does not go much further than the 'F' word. Real classy people... I've had the police round twice over the last few weeks, they're OK with me as I'm not breaking any laws but as they say, they have to respond to any call regarding guns of any kind. The last time they came they did have a word with Mr and Mrs Neaderthal to explain that I was within the law etc so I just carry on now and ignore the snide comments and dirty looks. I just don't need it, I've enough shit to deal with right now without having do deal with arsey neighbours. Cheers. Quote Link to post
pianoman 3,587
Well, Andy mate, know with a clear conscience that you've done the right thing reasonably. And even the police have been involved, investigated and doubtless, explained to Mr and Mrs Chimp that you are perfectly within your legal rights and bounds. There's nothing more you can do to further reason with these cretins so ignore them. They don't sound like the sort of people you'd like to invite round for drinks and dinner anyway! All the best mate. Simon Quote Link to post
andyfr1968 772
Yep, I know I've done nothing wrong, I've been nice and polite with Mr and Mrs Trogladite and it's not worked so feck 'em. I've had much worse things to deal with than dirty looks and gob-sh*tes so I'll just carry on as before Pontefract's a bit far for me for a regular trip at the moment due to lack of funds, Simon, do you know of any around Leeds? I've asked in the local shooting shops but no one seems to know although the one in Ponte's been mentioned a few times. Cheers. Edit to say.... Sorry, Degster, I didn't mean to hijack your thread but I'm after the same thing as you Let's hope someone can help us out.... Edited January 5, 2011 by andyfr1968 Quote Link to post
