Terra Firma 136
Well thought i've had a few bigguns over the years and thought that maybe i'd had bigger than 26lb, until chatting to a well known hunt terrierman who has dug 1000's of foxes for many hunts, the biggest he had recorded was 24lb. As stated earlier they look big but if you weigh them you will be suprised at their true size. YIS TF. Quote Link to post

MOO 730
had them much bigger, seen bigger on here Don't get me wrong I've had bigger than the 18lber. I weighed him because he looked so big. I once had 3 in a hole. 2 dogs @ 21 lbs each and a 18 lb vixen. 3 big foxes in the same earth. But as far as monsters go ?? I think 30 pounders most times can be taken with a big pinch of salt. I think the average dog fox is around the 15 or 16 lb mark with vixens a pound or two lighter. That's according to our scientific friends. So IMO guessing weights can be weight of the mark. As for weighting being only for anglers, otter hunters regularly used to weight their tally after a successful hunt in the good old days. I'd say the reason foxes weren't weighted after a hunt is obvious. I have to agree Neil 30lb is a monster ive had a 24lb and it was huge Quote Link to post

spiderpig 39
no matter how big they are i bet there roach shaped ribcage is easily spanable, wonder how many people have spanned one? it will show you how easy they can get into tight places and how can turn round in such a small place,a dog cant lay with its nose up its own arse like a fox can,and it always used to baffle me how hounds could run a fok to ground in a rabbit set yet it was always faceing the dog when one was put down,,,,you just have to admire them thats for sure Quote Link to post
rough dog 333
I dug what I thought was a huge dog fox a few years ago, got home and weighed him 19 3/4 pounds. Thought it was much heavier than that, they can be deceiving. Quote Link to post

fireman 10,924
Can't help but feel all this publcity about big foxes will have the ego boys out trying to kill the biggest fox they can find,a real shame as if left they'd maybe pass there size traits onto there young instead of just the small ones breeding.Time will tell but how in gods name can this be a good thing for the fox?.
