I'm guessing that you mean H4831 ?

52 grains is going to be hot.

C.O.L is ?

What velocity are you getting?

What twist rate does the rifle have? - Never mind 1 in 10 What is the OAL of the bullet tip?

if your getting the same groupings with factory loads and homeloads then that would suggest it's the gun, the scope or more likely you... so get to a range and get someone with more experience to check your rifle over for you then just practice, practice, practice!!!

Theres only one way to better your groups and thats solid practice, lots and lots of time shooting,

And when you know you can consistantly place your shots at what you aim at regardless of ammo, then its time to work on the handloads,

By this i mean if you can shoot 3/4 inch with factory ammo consistantly then you can get no better, you know its the ammo,

then its time to look at the reloads, and see what combination of primer, powder, head suits what you want to do, and then work on COL...

After this its about consistancy with that i mean all brass run out to a min, throw charges all the same same neck tension,

Thats when it gets down to the nitty gritty, then when you can shoot no better than what your achieveing, the next step is bedding the gun or a semi custom or custom gun to get the n'th degree outta what you have,

But for sheer group sizes to fall the best why is to shoot, simple as, then think what way you could better things, breathing, trigger pull, etc....

good luck in your quest.....

I would ask the question....what accuracy do you need?

What range are you shooting at?

What are you shooting?

Lets face plenty of folk are shooting hundreds of deer/fox etc with Factory rifles and ammo..........

So do you need accuracy or do you want it?

there is nothing worse than thinking is it me.i can get one inch groups at a hundred yards with my .17hmr. i bought a howa .204 with factory loads 40g six inch groups 32g three inch groups at 100 yards 1-12 twist rate. i took it back to the shop and the owner could do no better and gave me my money back.

next i baught a tikka t3 .204 three inch groups with 40g bullets two inch with 32g bullets and one inch with barnes varmint grenades 26g these were good but not at long range i should add that to get these groups i had to get into home loading.

be warned this can become an obsesion and i have now got my gun in with riflecraft having a 1-11 twist rate custom barrel fitted and while the work is being carried out a have much improved my reloading quality trimming cases different powder (burn rate matters)making sure they are all the same length and i will make sure the seating depth is correct. check out understanding firearm ballistics (book) and ammo smith . com out of respect for my prey if my gun will shoot 1 inch groups there is a bit of room for my shooting errors lets face it i love to paper punch to practice but i am not allways that steady when out lamping accuracy matters. dont get me wrong i would be alot better off if i did not suffer from obcessive compulsive accuracy disorder.

happy shooting and good luck
