hunt and fish 35
My dog is suffering from a hematoma in his back leg after it was grabbed by another dog 2 weeks ago. It was on painkillers and antiboitics for a week and was coming on great the swelling had went down to a certain stage but doesnt seem to be getting any better now. Rang the vet back today and he said i wouldnt be to worried about it but im taking him back tomorrow to have a look. Has anyone else on here had this before some info on recovery time etc would be great. Thanks. Quote Link to post

wippydoo 12
i had one on a dogs ear a while ago.they had to operate and seal the blood vessels that were leaking blood making the lump on the dogs ear.as far as i know its the only way to stop the lump as the blood vessels carry on leaking if they arent sealed.its not a big procedure dog was home same day bandaged up for a week then was fine and it never came back. superfurryanimal 91
vets won't operate on it for 2 weeks after it happened mate internal bleeding has to stop first or it will just keep filling back up with blood, my advice would be not to run the dog for a good few weeks so blood vessels have time to heal, my wifes a nurse and she lanced my bitch herself hopes this helps a.t.b sfa Quote Link to post
hunt and fish 35
Wippydoo how much did that cost you mate? it happened 4 days before xmas vet said it would be sore til the new year. Took it a short half hour walk yesterday as it was running about like its old self but today its filled up more and its on the inside of the dogs leg so might just rest him completely untill its away. Cheers for the advice everyone. Quote Link to post
