FOXHUNTER 5,021
Out yesterday with my mate doing a bit of long range rabbiting . He was shooting his .243 and I was very impressed. He started off on a couple at 425 yds and 437 yds no problem at all . Then took a couple at 570 yds and 575 yds and ended on the furthest one at 612 yds. AWESOME SHOOTING Here is a pic of the distance involved , if you look at the snow at the top of the opposite bank that is where the rabbits were situated !!! Quote Link to post

matt_hooks 188
Bloody hell, those are some expensive rabbits! Bet there wasn't much left to eat after the mighty .243 had finished with them either! What rounds was he using? That's some pretty impressive shooting! Quote Link to post

He was dialled for a 7mph wind from 1 o clock. 2nd shot connected. The rabbit at 570yds was missed extremely close , elevation was always spot on its just gauging the wind , especially shooting across a valley. 612 yd rabbit shot with 1st shot. Quote Link to post

Deker 3,478
That is impressive! I've had many a V Bull down the range at 600 yards but no rabbits in the field anything like that distance, certainly an achievement far greater than range shooting Quote Link to post
whippeter69 88
And to think i missed a rabbit at 35 the other nigh with my .22 . Well done lads, thats some serious distance you're shooting at. Quote Link to post

Millet 4,497
Good shooting by your mate and i would tell him not to worry about the couple of misses as it will of probably been rabbit fever, it sometimes happens when you get anxious about taking a vital shot,if he is worried about the windage with them distant shots tell him to give a .308 a go as they can hold there target a bit better in the wind or better still a .50 cal. I was watching two hooded crows who, intelligently, wouldn't come any closer than 542 yards. Picture clear as a bell through the Nightforce. Now, if only I stood a remote chance of nailing them at that distance.... Quote Link to post
