zini 1,939
Hi lads, Just a quick post from today’s little outing . Me, Tony and LJ went out to calibrate my Tench regged BSA .177 Ultra and its dedicated Hawke scopes mildots. The plan was to calibrate from 5 metres right out to 60 metres in 5 metre intervals to the finest degree . After a quick fine adjustment to my zero, moving the POI left the Ultra hit a drawing pin at 30 metres . Once zero was established Tony assisted me in placing targets from 5 to 60 metres while I shot and recorded the data on my calibration card, taking into consideration, rifle power, pellet BC and scope height above the bore. After the calibration was finished Tony and LJ decided to have a shot at a 4 cm target (milk bottle top) at 60 metres. As you will see after just 3 shooting lessons (2 of which were in July last year) LJ is starting to come on leaps and bounds and make some shots that an experienced shot would be proud of . This footage is not altered in any way or edited and the shot was her first attempt . Sorry for the shake, I wasnt on a tripod and the zoom was at maximun power. Here are the results. Si. Phantom 631
Well guy's and doll's you gotta hand it to Laura; just a little tuition regarding trajectory and holdover/under and the girl has got a natural talent for being able to keep the rifle still during the entire firing cycle and follow through I would have been sceptical if I hadn't set up the ranges with both tape measure and LASER and then personally witnessed Laura take the shot What Si failed to mention in his post is that after that shot, Laura, Si and myself had a little 7 target shoot with bottletops of varying sizes placed at random intervals out to GET THIS (I put the LRF on the last target) 71 meters, yes, 71 meters I am not embaressed to admit I missed the last target (as well as a couple of others) where as Si knocked it for 6 TWICE Nor am I embaressed to admit that Laura beat me in our little comp, leaving me in third position We had another really good time and I can not express in words my thanks to them both for all that they have done for me and their friendship since we first began communicating over the forum a couple of years ago (although I only met and spoke to Laura last July) I am already resigned to the fact that with more tuition and time with the Ultra; I'll be handing the trophy that I won last year over to Laura this year Phantom Quote Link to post

pianoman 3,587
My God Si, you really do have extreme air rifle range shooting well and truly understood. Bravo mate, truly! You know, it's always great to see nice folks having good fun and by the progress Laura is showing, she is a natural good shot, no mistake . I'm coming down to the meet with the new Weihrauch HW77 .22 and fly the flag for spring rifles, speaking of which, hopefully, will be tuned by Tony Wall by then. Though as it is, it's smoothing out beautifully on my test range. And my prehistoric but utterly dependable Simmons and Bushnell 30-30 duplex reticle scopes. After what it's doing straight out of the box so far, I'm keen to see what this beautiful spring rifle and me will make of a 60-metre milk bottle top. It's tack-driving H&N Field & Target Trophys' at 45 metres. It's ambidextrous too so, you can all have a shot or two with it! Thanks for sharing this with us all Si. ATB Simon Quote Link to post
