matmorgan 49
i prefer early season lampin for there first few bunnies.alot of squatters about stacks the odds in the dogs favour.as long as the dog catches early then i dont spose it matters to much.if you only have the one dog then them first catches are all the more important imho. Big bald beautiful 1,231
my pup is just over 7 mths old, daft as a brush .will chase but holding him back. may start him on the lamp at the end of the season march time, but if there are only flying rabbits he will be kept lamp free until september. storm323 191
I prefer to get the out on the lamp in good places for a few easy runs, let the dog learn how the rabbit runs then some ferreting. Quote Link to post
rocky1 942
i start all my pups lamping first ,i.e training ,stock ,retrieve during the day ,if they get on somthing then far enough,if you want a lamping dog allways best 2 start them straight away on lamp Quote Link to post
scotty2306 37
i start all my pups lamping first ,i.e training ,stock ,retrieve during the day ,if they get on somthing then far enough,if you want a lamping dog allways best 2 start them straight away on lamp lamping first atleast for the first season so they dont hunt up then do a bit of daywork after that.both mine work cover and hunt in the day but come straight back when the lamp is off.i dont use a dog for ferreting the nets catch and the ferret only goes in if a rabbit is at home Quote Link to post
