bri1970 22
i would'nt overdo it with the meths or potassium either.personally i've found this to be more of a problem when running crop land ie winter wheat or drill.never had much of a problem running normal grass meadows.just clean your dogs feet regularly.i use hibiscrub which is an antibactereal soap mixed with warm water.its seems to do a good job of lifting the shite out.there's no quick fix though to be honest. scotty2306 37
my dogs feet only get sore and bleed around the nails if i run them on bad ground, maybe try to run them on better land they arent machines, way i look at it i wouldnt run over it with no shoes on Quote Link to post
whin 463
no matter what you do if a dog has bad feet plus all depends there runing style i soak my dogs feet if there getting hard worked with salt and warm water soak them after every nite or day they soon come clean pace is a major factor if they control it or run like a headless chicken or a track dog a clever dog runs the land through expierence a young dog doesnt, just one of these things Quote Link to post
fieldsman 51
Use hydrogen peroxide it draws out the dirt and grit bath it 2 or 3 times a day when its all clean tightly wrap thick cotton round the base of each nail then super glue or rapid epoxy it has to be thick enough to come above the quick, time consuming but it can be worth it in the long run, its better than a lame dog. lurcherman 28
( QUTICLE OIL ) its the stuff women use after haveing there nails done it repairs and hardens the skin around the bed and qick use this 3 times daily after cleaning, also make sure the dogs nails are paralelle with the ground when he up on his toes as if there a little long this could be causeing the problem, Quote Link to post
macca 83
i had this problem with one of my bitchs and i tried nearly everything ,the best results i had, well the only result was to tape her quicks up every time i run her.cut the tape in to very thin strips about2 inches long, start on the nail and work backwards onto the quicks and up over the toe,i used to do mine the night before so when we got to the fens the tape had hardened and stayed on all day.when you get back soak there feet and the tape softens and comes away plus they are clean for next time Quote Link to post
