stevethefish 80
After having a really bad flu all christmas it was a breath of fresh air to get out and about. I called Stevo to see if he was up for it, silly question that was and also invited redeye jedi and his mate mr teapot off here. We met at Ruskington just north of sleaford at 07.30 but it was still quite dark so the flasks came out for 10 minutes while we had a chat. When it eventually got light enough we set off to do the roadside up to the farm lane, this had been looking good for a while but only produced about 6 for us, probably still grazing the fields. When we eventually got on the lane we had got warmed up and rearing to go, it didnt take long for us to start netting some more bunnies under the hawthorn hedgerow. As we got about half way up we had a bit of a shock on a dig........but enough said about that one for now. As we reached the top corner we had a 100% record until stevo let one go on a dig, it slipped the grip but went to ground just a few yards down the track..... later! We plodded on, I had a chat with the landowner to explain the problem we had earlier, he was gobsmacked but pleased too. It was great to have a few hours out with some of the other guys off here, but they couldnt believe that I thought our bag was just a low average, they will have to come on some good land and see what I mean. As it was new years eve we didnt leave it too late and stopped with a level 30 bunnies, I did manage to get some video footage and some pics but seem to have trouble with my sdhc card so lost most of them. We will be off again in a couple of days for another session, best not have too many ciders over the new year then...... Edited January 1, 2011 by stevethefish Quote Link to post
JoeD 24
What was the shock then? and great bag and looks a great hedgeline to ferret. Joe Quote Link to post
stevethefish 80
lets just say one of the digs something had moved in and it wasnt red, lucky to get the ferret back and stevos fingers after he stuck his hand down to grab the (rabbit) a quick retreat and from now on avoiding that area. No previous in the area and no tell tale signs, trust me or stevo wouldnt have stuck his hand in and grabbed this LARGE rabbit. The landowner had no idea this was a very old fox earth. stevethefish 80
Stevo's collie in the picture drops its pups in about 3 weeks, if anyone is after a cracking marking dog these are the business, I have never seen a dog graft as hard and be 100% everytime, get your orders in now they will be in demand.
