Yep i still have my oldy although she doesn't really show her old age bar her lameness on a front leg due to osteoarthritis, she still goes out on the lamp now and agian although she can't be run as hard as she used to she still gives her all, just tends to be stiff for a good day after, she will be nine years old tomorrow :D She was my first ever lurcher and i have enjoyed the years hunting i have had with her. Pre ban her main role was deer but she was up for anything, she was never a single handed fox killer but that never bothered me, she will be sorely missed when her time comes but she has life in her yet and she will let me know if she doesn't ever want to go out when i pick the lamp up. ;)

My old bitch is about 12, hasn't worked for a few years due to injury but in her days she was a good rabbiting dog, lamp/ferrets etc.

Although she did have every think else she exercise more hares than she caught!

Still she did me ok.

I know a bloke who had a collie x greyhound who caught his last fox at the grand old age of 15 and had to be put down 7 months later due to old age and illness. He was the best all round working lurcher I've every seen.

Maggie, bull/grey cross pure grey, hunted pigs and other things regularly till she was 8 but had her last taste at 11. Retired after that and died peacefully at home at 14.

Beautiful natured, gentle, dignified dog and a decent hunting dog to boot, no world record breaker but a pleasure to own. Oldest dog I ever hunted was a english bull terrier/labrador bitch called Cleo, she retired from active duty at 12. Have had dogs retire as early as 6 though due to injury and unwillingness to keep at it.
