Foxing lurcher

What is the best foxing lurcher???

I have tried collie x very clever dogs that seem to catch alot more daytime than Amy other ive seen but after a few seasons throw the towel in or half heartedly run them.

Bullx r good for lamping but lack nose for daytime obviously I'm not saying they all do but the ones I've seen..

These dogs were out three times a week working cover or at digs and had seen a fair few on the lamp..!

Is anyone doing them this regular and with what x ?

are you for real, you are asking for people to incriminate themselvs !!!!!! we all know the law is wrong but it is the LAW oggy

i think he means pre ban lol, with fox control most lurchers will handle a fox. But if serious fox control4-5 days+night, where a dog could get bite quite alot, bullxgrey is best for that job. Ive seen alot of differnt xs over the years (25) do fox work from colliexgreys, deerhoundxs, bitsz, all good dogs. But none will take the stick like a (well bred) bullxgrey, they just seem to have greater (pain threshold+ tenacity) than any other x. But like any x it as to be a good'un well bred, as there is crap in any x. Ray

The point the man was making was that although most can take stick, bull greys generally don't have the nose or general hunting ability to make good daytime dogs capable of finding their own quarry in the way that collie crosses can. My suggestion would be a deerhound greyhound for this work, almost all have good noses and will hunt like a hound and mine certainly hunt up their own quarry. They also seem to have a natural antipathy to foxes and will generally kill them without bitten up.

As far as im concerned a foxing lurchers true worth is during the day. So the dog has to have a good nose, hellish prey drive and desire to hunt. Also be in tune with dogs working cover, terriers working earths and yourself makes daytime lurcher work more productive. Give me a lurcher that finds, catches and kills during the day but may only be able to be worked once a week over the gamest point and fire type any day. However, nobody can deny how usefull a good bull lurcher is.
