A fair swap

Recommended Posts

Had to go it alone today again and so tackled a series of small hedgerow buries.

First three holer produced one early on (10 minutes walk from the house). Met a lady walking a dog who gave me some more permission and also said she would call her farmer neighbours that day so that I could go on thier land as well. She then said do I want to sell the rabbit as she was making a game pie tomorrow, she could have it for free a fair swap for more permission

Found some new untouched buries but due to thier size and being in part of a thick wooded hedgerow I decided to leave these until I have some help.

Went on and did a few more buries ranging in size from 8 holes to 25. Again it was hard work ferreting the hedges on my own and twice I lost rabbits caught on the opposite side that struggled free before I could get round.

Final tally was eight rabbits. Rabbit pie on Saturday and Tandoori rabbit on Monday :D

And with this mild spell it looks like river piking on Monday

a good day out it sounds, and a bit of ferreting on your own is a good thing i think, you are limited in what you can get done but keeps you thinking and is all the more rewarding, just travel light and work small setts and you should enjoy yourself.
