Due to being able to fly in the day i havent been out lamping in 3 or 4 weeks, now back to normal working days again so i went out lamping last night. Rolf weighed in at 1lb 5.6 and we headed down to meet MJE of the forum. we arrived on the farm and MJE took his male harris out first. it was the birds first time being flown on the lamp. as we arrived into the first feild, we noticed just how wet the ground was, every time we moved you could just hear slop slop slop. the first rabbit we seen cal chased well, but as he got close a couple of more rabbits went into the beam, this oculd have maybe confised him? so we went on to see no more rabbits in the field(very muddy, noisey ground) secodn feild we seen a few along a ditch, but as we got within 100 yards they were all gone. headed towards the bottom of the field and noticed a rabbit squatting well about 50 yards from another side of the fench. cal chased, and striked hard at it, but it jumped out of the way at the cruital moment, and made a run up the hill. next feild produced one flight, but the rabbit made it to cover before the bird got to it. then tried to get close to a few more rabbits but it was impossible with the noise. so we headed back to the car to change over birds. first feild with rolf produced a few rabbits, but having to take on 2 very low slips, and they both got to cover before rolf got to them. next feild produced a few rabbits that we didnt get near too. then into a nive little narrow field, and one or two rabbits running over the brough of the field, by the time we got over, they were all gone. headed down to the bottom of the field and was about to head for the lane back to car, we we spotted a rabbit down a little slope at teh bottom of the field. kept the beam on and walked near it, almost slipping a few times. it was about 10 yards from the ditch, so i got close to the ditch and slipped rolf, instead of the rabbit heading to the ditch it ran along it, rolf made in on it near a fench, when it turns and ran back to the ditch, rolf got back up and striked it in the backside, and started bouncing about, i ran in and went to get them, but they dodged me. the rabbit got to the ditch, where rolf managed to anchor himself. then went in and dispatched it. being his first on the lamp in ages i gave him a real good feed up and called it a night. should be out tomorrow night it the forecast is wrong lol.
