airsoft rifle

Things have come a long way on since the 1960s and the "JOHNNY SEVEN" Assault rifle I got as a boy one Christmas. And also at least, we didn't have that bloody ridiculous Home Office rule that requires an air soft replica has to be 50% painted in silly colours to be legally sold to the public who are not members of skirmish sites or clubs. I've now heard of real, live fire guns being siezed in police raids that have been painted to look like replicas!

I would love to say to the Home Office tosser who came up with this absurd idea; 'What the F*** did you think Criminals would do with their weapons? Go get em licensed??!!'

Air soft can be a great way into the sport, as an introduction to shooting safety. Obviously you'll make sure your son understands that it's not a toy, and that it should never be pointed at anyone.

The spring powered airsofts can be a bit plasticky, but should be useful in teaching him good shooting technique!

As for the stupid gun laws, don't even get me started!

I'v had a few of these things in the shop befor, they are as stated befor a bit plastiky and not up to withstanding much abuse ie dropping.

as for there claim of being very accurate, well its took me 20mins to stop laughing so i can type.

non of the air soft are accurate untill you start spending 100's of quid.

was offered a 2nd hand m16k yesterday full auto running on ni-ci battery pack. full size replica. it put about 20bb's in about a foot group from about 8 meters. but with that said as a fun gun you cant help but get a smeark on ya face when fireing the things.

Hi mate i can hit a bottle cap at 25 yard with my clasic army aug. not as accurate as an air gun of same price but will hit human at 50 yard. Airsoft guns are not bad for there power. Its true there not good till you start spending £250 plus but i find that same with most guns.

I know there's a panicky knee jerk measure about replicas but, I find the restrictions on airsoft "weapons" a bloody joke. They are nowhere near as powerful as a sub 12ft/lb air rifle yet, I can buy a genuine WW2 bolt action Mauser K98 7.92mm rifle on my FAC and shoot it at a gun club, with less crap than an Airsoft copy of this rifle requires. All this bullcrap about having to belong to a skirmish club blah blah.... I'm sorry but, after a fair chunk of my life serving in the RAF rockapes, I have no desire to dress up like a feckin half-arsed stormtrooper and play bang-your-dead at my age, nor have to have 50% of it painted in a bright stupid colour, in order to be able to buy a fun-gun for a bit of plinking in my back garden. They should be an enjoyable bit of harmless fun and nothing more. But, this being 21st Century Britain, anyone expressing an interest in any form of shooting or gun collecting, is seen as a social deviant and potential psychotic killer.

I think the Americans have the right idea. It's the person, not the weapon, that commits the crime. If some gash arse goes out and threatens life and limb with a plastic toy or a live-fire weapon, then he deserves all he gets from the Law,-including a marksman'e bullet.

Just my thoughts on the airsoft subject.
